Scope of Works
Burnley College is a state-of-the-art learning facility. The unique college building is made up of seven separate but inter-connected blocks over six levels, including extensive building trade workshops for apprentices. Set behind the main building is a multi-use sports facility. A key design consideration was the elimination of background noise within the ceiling voids whilst maintaining good sound absorption in the classrooms in particular. The choice of ceiling tile was made following numerous sound tests in sound laboratories at Salford University. Early collaboration with the Architect and Principal Contractor was critical in the delivery and value engineering without compromising the integrity of the building design. The scope of the works included 19,000m² of Armstrong metal pan and mineral fibre tiles, 1,000m² of Ecophon glass fibre titles and a large amount of their Texona wall panels, high gloss stretch fabric featured canopies, Avanti glazed screens with UVLAN & Burnley College logos in Atrium to all levels, approx 3000m of plasterboard bulkheads, margins and linings to rooflights and a featured top hung folding glass screen to the refectory.
