Scope of Works

No. 4 St Paul's Square is the latest addition to the mixed use regeneration scheme in Liverpool's Central Business District, which is helping restore life to a neglected corner of the city. As part of the wider masterplan for the area, No. 4 is the third commercial building we have worked on around a new public square.

No. 4 is, as were No. 1 & No. 5, an eight story 10,000 sq m Grade A office space with distinctive glazed facades. The interiors scope of works involved the creation of a central core comprising of an eclectic mix of British Gypsum plasterboard partitions surrounded by an SAS System 330 panel suspended ceiling system within the office floor spaces. The plasterboard partitions were developed to meet a high level of acoustic and fire requirements to encircle two staircases, numerous lifts and the public toilets. The SAS 'Mega' panel ceiling system provides a functional, high performance and an effective design incorporating blind boxes and plasterboard margins.

In addition to the office space the Main Reception was considered the focal point of the development. Containing a high volume of hard surfaces, such as glass panelling and terrazzo flooring, acoustics were the main concern. The solution was BASWAphon, which is an innovative mineral based acoustic system by BASWA, designed to control reverberation time and provide a seamless monolithic appearance.

Testimonial

"Sound interiors became involved in the project 12 months prior to getting an order and helped the architect to close out his detailing in the most cost effective manner, this involvement paid dividends throughout the construction period as the client and architect trusted Sound Interiors to solve all difficult detailing issues.

During the construction period Sound Interiors helpful, collaborative and proactive approach helped advance the programme so that we had the comfort of being practically complete some 4 weeks ahead of the contract completion date. I think in challenging economic times Its worth noting that from a cost point of view the final account was agreed some 2 months prior to completion with a package growth of around 0.5%, most of which were client variations.

Management of the works on site was exceptionally good, safety scores were the best on site, quality was excellent and whenever problems arose the response from Sound was how can we help?. I look forward to working with the Sound Interiors team on future projects as it really has been pleasure to do business with them."
